The end of a busy year

Another very busy season has come to an end here at Towsers Kennels and what a year it has been.  During our annual closure in January 2012 we completed the tiling and underfloor heating in all the bedrooms and runs as well as enlarging a family block of 8 smaller bedrooms into 4 larger ones.  We added a veranda onto the front of the reception building (which has proved extremely useful with the dreadful summer weather!) and slabbed the entire area.

We were up and running again at the beginning of February 2012 and haven’t stopped all year! 2012 has proved to be one of our busiest years yet keeping Shaun and I out of mischief all year!  Combine that with the atrocious weather our washing machine has been kept in continual use throughout the year.  We hope at least for some better weather in 2013.

Sadly we have lost a few of our old friends this year, some of whom we have cared for since they came to us as young puppies in 2001 and it is always so sad to say goodbye to such well loved pets but we have been safe in the knowledge that they have all lived happy and fulfilled lives. On the other side of the coin we have welcomed even more youngsters who we hope will have equally long and happy holidays with us in years to come.

Training classes at Towsers started well but as the classes are outdoors in one of our paddocks, we eventually had to cancel more than we held!  The hardy bunch who enjoyed the weekly agility course persevered until October but were finally beaten by the elements.  Again, we will hope for drier underfoot in 2013 and, hopefully, more enjoyable days in the training field.

The Simpsons Premier Complete food has proved incredibly popular and sales of this great value, superb dry food have soared through the roof which meant we had to increase our storage capacity.

With the hectic and very wet year there hasn’t been a great deal of time in our calendar to show our own dogs, but once again both Dawn and Fleur have had considerable success in 2012.  Dawn capped the year by giving us a beautiful litter of 8 puppies in October to a lovely dog, who came to visit her from Switzerland – her boyfriends come from all over the world!!!

During our current closure we have more painting to do throughout the kennels, more tiling, more trees to cut down,  and the reception is getting a makeover as well, so no resting on our laurels for us, However, hopefully we will get the odd day off!

Finally we would like to thank all our customers and friends for their loyal support over the past year and we look forward to welcoming you all again in 2013 and to making new doggy friends!

We re-open on Wednesday 6th February 2013.
